How Samm bake brownies

I promised Gordon i’ll bake brownies for him today. His eyes gleamed the moment i took the box of Pillsbury Brownie Mix out from the kitchen cabinet. I love the gooey, chewy and moist feel of brownies and would always order a piece whenever i dine at Secret Recipe or Coffee Bean.

Not many ingredients to prepare also. I have the Pillsbury Brownie Mix. Got an egg out of the fridge, 3 tablespoonful of water and also 1/4 cup of oil. I didnt use my organic extra virgin olive oil this time. Just what my MIL use for her daily cooking.

But i used my new transfat-free olive oil spread to grease the Pyrex dish though, lol. I’m using the 8 x 8 inch Pyrex dish for my brownie. Dont have those non-stick metal baking pans.

Here are the contents of the Pillsbury Brownie mix. There’s another with chocolate chunks in it. But i bought this cos i dig the walnuts. I will buy the other on my next trip to Cold Storage.

Nice or not the walnuts. Damn, i should have roasted them a bit before i add them to the mix. Next round…. IF i remember…

Yayaya, wanna show off my Philips Cucina Mixer again. Dumped everything into it and mixed it on low. It still requires hand mixing after i stopped the machine as the base didnt get mixed well enough.

All the mixed contents well spread out in the Pyrex dish.

And into the pre-heated Philips Toaster Oven it goes. The baking instructions calls for 24 - 26 minutes at 350 deg Fahrenheit. I used 175 deg Celcius.

The back part was slightly burnt as the interior of the oven slanted downwards and the heat is more intense there. It’s only a toaster oven, k. It can only do so much. Maybe i put it nearer to the door next time. But it takes ages to cool inside the Pyrex dish. I’ve no idea how long it took cos i went to the organic store right after i took it out of the oven.

And here’s a piece of very sinful but not overly sweet Brownie from me. Not much left now. I saved a piece for Gordon’s tea tomorrow. Have a bite. Yummmmmm…….

if you are cooking in a toaster oven you need to take 25 degrees an add 2-3 mins

you can try to cover the top with aluminium foil to keep the brownie from over-browned. :)
