Lor Pak Koe Making Process – Video

I drove to this Moon and Moon Cafe this evening right before i went to pick my kids up from school. This coffeeshop is situated at Hala Pinji 2, Off Jalan Chung Ah Ming at Pasir Puteh. It offers some very good Ipoh hawker food like Lor Pak Koe (Radish Cake), Mee Jawa, Wantan Meen, Nyonya Kuih, Drunken Chicken Noodles and lots more. You can also get the Pasir Pinji Tai-Shuih-Keok noodles and fried foo pei here too.

Moon and Moon Cafe

Today, as hubby’s away and i’m minding the kids on my own, i’d rather tapau instead. My kids are uber picky and there are just not many foods that they fancy. Of course there are exceptions like Wantan Meen (this is a sure-win), and lately, the Lor Pak Koe here at this Moon and Moon Cafe. The stall only opens after 3pm and operates ill late night.

Lor Pak Koe seller

The stall i buy the Lor Pak Koe also sells Or-Jian, or Oyster Pancakes. According to the seller, he doesnt use MSG. I’ve not tried the Or-Jian there before as i’m afraid my kids may be allergic to it. I will try it on my own one day as i also like Or-Jian very much. Not that there are many stalls selling Or-Jian in Ipoh also. Here’s the Lor Pak Koe seller making Or-Jian as i camwhored.

Or-jian - Oyster pancake

When it comes to Lor Pak Koe, i think most of you will will think of the kind that’s black with lots of thick soy sauce, lard, choy pou and beansprouts, right. Neh, like the kind you get from the stall right at the entrance of Sun Yuen Loong at Ipoh Oldtown lehh. I stay far-far away from those, lol. I also hate the fact that i have to pick all the beansprouts out when when Gordon wants to eat some.

Plate Of Lor Pak Koe - Radish Cake

This is how i like mine, au natural, LOL. This version doesnt contain beansprouts, iLIKE!!!! But it does have a sprinkling of chopped spring onions on it when served. Also extra work for me. Just have to remind the Lor Pak Koe seller not to add it when he’s cooking it next time. Difficult to pick them out when they are all stuck to the cooked Lor Pak Koe. I dont mind it on the outside though.

Gordon and Malcolm eating Lor Pak Koe

And here’s a nice pic of my kids enjoying their late evening treat after school. Yum-yum. I even took a video of the whole Lor Pak Koe making process. Haih, you see, to all of you, food is food is food. To Samm, it’s blogging material. Such is the life of a food blogger. Everything also bloggable. The video is taking forever to reach Youtube. Meanwhile, make do with this one first, ya. I’ll switch it later. Enjoy the Lor Pak Koe making process video :)
