Mother’s Day fell on 10th May this year. Hubby asked me how i’d like to celebrate Mother’s Day and i told him i’d like to have an early dinner at Moven Peak. I’ve not been there for a long time. If my memory serves me right, we last dined there on Gordon’s birthday last year. Malcolm only wanted to have fun at the small water feature at the entrance to the open-air dining air and hubby had to keep an eye on him the whole time. He got so wet and i didnt bring any spare clothing out for him to change into. Ever since then, hubby vowed not to eat there anymore, lol.
We went there early as we wanted to avoid the crowd that’ll be arriving to celebrate Mother’s Day later on. It was only 5.30pm and there were quite a few tables piled high with food, lol. The main crowd-puller here is the eat-all-you-can buffet steamboat. I think they are charging Rm30/pax for adults and children below 100cm can eat there for free. If they exceed a certain height they will be charged a fraction of the adult’s rate, something like that.
We were not there for the steamboat as it’s difficult to eat with two young kids. They’ll most likely end up wanting to go get more food to dunk into the hot soup. We cant afford to waste good food as wastage is charged at Rm5/100gm. That’s very fair. As we werent that hungry, we only ordered two plates of food from the scaled-down temporary menu and two fruit juices. Gordon loves watermelon juice and i ordered him one. Hubby had carrot juice. Plain water is served free-of-charge.
Hubby doesnt fancy meat much and ordered Fish & Chips. The kids likes to munch on French Fries. But they had a snack an hour earlier and we dont know if they feel like eating or not. We can order more if they want to, right. The Fish & Chips here is good and hubby says it tastes ok. Coming from someone whose family is in the seafood wholesale business, this is already a compliment. Dont ask for more.
As for my Lamb Chop, it’s a MAJOR disappointment. I’ve ordered this dish many times before and it’s fine. I thought i was chewing on tree bark, lol. The texture is definitely OUT. Hubby finished his meal first as i took Malcolm into the Main Restaurant to look at the Fishes in the Aquariums. He took over from me to let me enjoy my meal. I took a few bites and asked for the bill. I excused them this time as they didnt argue when i returned the dish to them and told them i should not be charged for something of such sub-standard.
In a way, Gordon kept himself busy playing Gordon Ramsay’s Hell’s Kitchen on the NDS. Malcolm has pwnd his PSP and he wasnt too happy. I’m glad he’s such an easy kid to please and though a bit sulky, he sat beside me all the time. He dranked the whole glass of watermelon juice but didnt want any food. That’s ok with me.
Before we left the restaurant, we took the boys inside once more as Gordon was outside all the time. I wanted him to have some fun with the fishes as well. The restaurant was already jam-packed with diners and we had to make sure the kids dont get bumped into by hungry piranhas busy grabbing at food from the buffet counter, lol. This was how and where i celebrated Mother’s Day this year. Was i happy? Oh yeah!!! If my boys enjoyed themselves and my hubby doesnt complain about anything, i’m one happy woman, period.
