I’ve not had homemade yogurt for quite some time already. No, i’ll rephrase that. I’ve not had homemade yogurts for ages. My Hansell’s Yog-it yogurt maker has been rotting on top of the kitchen cabinet since my MIL placed it there dunno how many years ago.
I got sick of eating store-bought yogurt and decided once and for all to make yogurt on a regular basis. Since i needed a starter, i went to the organic shop to buy a packet of yogurt base and culture back. I cant find Hansell’s Yogurt, but they do have Easiyo Yogurt Base. Both works the same, ok.
My kids havent had plain yogurt for a long time. To be on the safe side, i chose a Mango flavored Yogurt base. They do have a plain organic yogurt base. Naturally, Organic Samm likes that very much but that’ll have to wait till the kids learn how to eat plain yogurt. It’s gonna take time, i know….
This is my Hansell’s Yogurt Maker. Comes with two Yogurt making container. This is good as i can make another batch as soon as this is ready. All that’s needed is milk, and a little bit of Homemade yogurt from the first batch. Easy, right. And downright super healthy too
For those of you who havent made yogurt before, you can see how easy it is. First, go boil some water (this is for the big container). Then, half-fill this small container with filtered water. I use mine straight from the water-filter.
Pour the contents of the Yogurt Base into it. Cover and shake it thoroughly. This is to ensure all the powder is well-mixed and not lumpy.
Next, add more water until it reaches the indicated level and cover. By now, the water should have boiled.
Pour the hot water into the big container until the indicated level.
Place the smaller yogurt container into it and cover immediately. GAOTIM!!!
DO NOT OPEN AT ALL FOR AT LEAST 8 HOURS. I made mine at around 10pm. So, goodnight and see ya tomorrow at 10am. Tata!!!
