Banana Leaf Rice At Sri Ananda Bahwan, Ipoh Oldtown

I had a big mango for breakfast yesterday. Then, went and update my Facebook on that and a friend left a comment saying Indian mangoes are super delicious. I had to go do some banking at Oldtown and hubby drove me there. Hubby loves Indian food very much. Last Sunday, we had lots of homecooked Indian food at a friend’s house. So, i suggested we go have Banana Leaf Rice for lunch.

After driving round and round looking a parking space, we finally decided to have lunch at Sri Ananda Bahwan. We’ve eaten there before and the food there is good. Even my Indian friends say the place serves good food. I dont know the name of the road cos i didnt bother to look for the road sign. It’s along the road at the right of Sun Yuen Loong Oldtown White Coffee.

There’s a Tandoori Chicken counter at the main entrance butno lah. Dont want Tandoori Chicken. I want Banana Leaf Rice.

We arrived shortly after 1pm. The place wasnt packed yet. It was packed 10 minutes later when the lunch crowd poured in. The place is clean, but the seating is a tad cramped.

Service is prompt and everything is at the table in a few minutes time. Banana leaf, Rice, Vegetables, Papadom and iced water.

Both hubby and i wanted fish curry to go with our rice.

Hubby asked me if i wanted anything else and i told him Chicken would be nice. He brought this back. OMG, i tastes so good with the Chilli Boh, Ginger, Cinnamon and God knows what else they put into it. Hubby had the curry egg. I tried the curry and it tastes a bit bland to me. Overall, we enjoyed our Banana Leaf Rice lunch. No idea what to eat for lunch? Have Banana Leaf Rice tomorrow, ok :)
