Fried Mah Yau Fish

Fried Mah Yau

We’re having fish for lunch again. It’s fried Mah Yau, with some gravy to go with the rice. My kids love it. Mah Yau has very soft and sweet flesh. It does have quite a lot of fine bones. So, if you are going to prepare it for young children, do spend some time to pick out the fine bones, ya. I still do miss one or two till now. But then, my kids have learnt not to swallow them. They can even remove it by themselves, phewwww.

This morning, i woke up and saw my kid Fishing at Pet Society. It’s been a while since he last played Pet Society. After he went to school. I found an interesting Pet Society Fishing Cheat video online. It’s fun!!! My kid is gonna love it when he sees a full aquarium when he comes back from school. Give this Pet Society Fishing Cheat a try and have fun playing Pet Society :)

You will need:

It’s A Beautiful Cooking Day

Is there ever a Beautiful Cooking day in your life? If there is, which day would it be? Although i seldom cook, i do love cooking on a rainy Sunday. We usually dont go out on rainy days. I would say my favorite meal for a rainy Sunday would be a big pot of Homecooked Porridge. Just dump everything into the pot, add water, and in an hour or so, we get to sit down to a bowl of wholesome and yummy porridge; the ultimate comfort food for a rainy day.

Pot Of Porridge

What you see here is a pot of Chicken with Oysters Porridge. I also added some dried scallops to it to make it even sweeter. I love it with some Marmite and lots of Organic Sesame Oil. My kids love theirs with Kikkoman Sauce and Organic Sesame Oil. Hubby is okay with whatever i put before him, lol.

I found an interesting Cooking Show online sometime back. Was far too busy to put the links up. Here’s Beautiful Cooking 2 for your weekend watching pleasure. Beautiful Cooking 2 has 26 episodes and hosted by Ronald Cheng, Edmond Leung and Alex Fong. Have fun watching Beautiful Cooking 2 online. If you like the show, then tell your friends. Enjoy Beautiful Cooking 2.

Chocolatey Sunday

Establishments like Coffee Bean sure has a fool proof way to make me keep going back over and over again. It’s their Coffee Bean Card….. sigh. The moment my credit dips, i’ll tend to top it up again. Why? Cos i get 10% when i top The Coffee Bean Card up lorr. Not that i mind as my boys get to enjoy having cakes there on weekends. I seldom bake these days.

Here’s what Malcolm chose last weekend. Gordon is okay with anything. He’s not as picky as Malcolm as far as food intake is concerned. Chocolate is always a firm favorite with my boys. See, their fingers will always be where the chocolate shavings are, lol. They wont touch the cake until all the chocolate shavings are gone. The cake is delicious and not too sweet. Just the way i like it :)

I’ve planned on buying a convection oven and breadmaker but shelved the idea as electricity tariff keeps going up. Not that i bake much to begin with. So, difficult to justify that “want” factor for the time being. After all, Coffee Bean has quite a few cakes that my kids like to eat. Will do. Definitely more economical than baking my own.

Wild Lotus Root?

Wild Lotus Root

This is what i saw lying on the kitchen floor first thing this morning. I asked my MIL what it is and she told me it’s Sang Lin Ngau. In English, it literally means “Wild Lotus Root”. Have you seen anything like this before? Believe you me, i’ve never. She told me it makes a good nourishing soup, especially beneficial to the elderly.

Wild Lotus Root

It’s all cut up and in the crockpot now. I can see that she’s added wolfberries, red dates and pork ribs to it. I hope the soup turns out sweet and the kids will drink it. I’d like to know what this is called. Please….. i need an answer desperately!!!!!

Tempura Chicken Nuggets

I bought a packet of Tempura Chicken Nuggets last week and as usual, totally forgotten about it. I hardly ever open the freezer to check what’s inside wat. Anyways, i saw it when my toddler wanted to eat “sushi” and i went to get him some. By that, he meant the red colored crab sticks my MIL buys occasionally. He must have spotted it when MIL/FIL opened it one day.

I never liked frying these Tempura Chicken Nuggets as i need to defrost them first. Troublesome tousei. My favorite way of preparing these nuggets is by popping them into my Philips Toaster Oven. It’s not the most economical way of preparing them, but sure beats the heat and the oil if i were to fry them.

These Tempura Chicken Nuggets is the kind of convenient snacks i buy like once a year, or maybe less. They are actually very easy to make and almost every kid loves to eat chicken nuggets. I just told hubby that i want to brush up my hopeless culinary skills, lol. Really time to dig out my recipe books leh. Had better stop buying and start experimenting for a change.
