This is for dinner tonight. We’re having Stir-fried Lady Fingers With Garlic, Potatoes With Chicken And Fried Rice. The rice was left-overs from last night. No wastage, so make fried rice with eggs. The Potatoes With Chicken is for Malcolm, who doesnt quite like to eat rice. MIL loves the chicken. Both FIL and i, so-so lah.
I love the Stir-fried Lady Fingers with garlic best. FIL also. The rabbit in me is still around. Just wanna bite into anything that’s green. The slime will aid digestion. Hmmmm…. it’s almost time to go pick the boys up from school. I’ll pack some fried rice for Gordon to eat at his tutor’s. Malcolm can come back to theĀ potatoes.

This Ice Fire Polo Bun is my toddler’s favorite snack at Oldtown Kopitiam. We always order it for him each time we yum-cha there. There’s another version with chicken ham in it. But i prefer this plain version. I’m lucky as Oldtown Kopitiam is just walking distance from my house. But then, lazybum me still prefer to drive there.
Have you ever wondered where Polo Bun gets its name from? According to a Hongkie friend of mine, Polo means Pineapple to them. I know Polo Bun looks nothing like a Pineapple but my guess is the criss-cross pattern on top of the bun that lends its name to it. Correct me if i’m wrong, ok.
My Hongkie friend is coming back for a visit soon. I’ll take him go yum-cha at Oldtown Kopitiam and see what he has to say about this Polo Bun thingy, lol. Now, i just got an email from my friend telling me that a new drama series will be up next week. It’s A Bride For A Ride, a period drama series. Let’s hope A Bride For A Ride is an interesting drama series. Do watch A Bride For A Ride free online with me, ya. Enjoy.

I had a big mango for breakfast yesterday. Then, went and update my Facebook on that and a friend left a comment saying Indian mangoes are super delicious. I had to go do some banking at Oldtown and hubby drove me there. Hubby loves Indian food very much. Last Sunday, we had lots of homecooked Indian food at a friend’s house. So, i suggested we go have Banana Leaf Rice for lunch.

After driving round and round looking a parking space, we finally decided to have lunch at Sri Ananda Bahwan. We’ve eaten there before and the food there is good. Even my Indian friends say the place serves good food. I dont know the name of the road cos i didnt bother to look for the road sign. It’s along the road at the right of Sun Yuen Loong Oldtown White Coffee.

There’s a Tandoori Chicken counter at the main entrance butno lah. Dont want Tandoori Chicken. I want Banana Leaf Rice.

We arrived shortly after 1pm. The place wasnt packed yet. It was packed 10 minutes later when the lunch crowd poured in. The place is clean, but the seating is a tad cramped.

Service is prompt and everything is at the table in a few minutes time. Banana leaf, Rice, Vegetables, Papadom and iced water.

Both hubby and i wanted fish curry to go with our rice.

Here’s a close up of the vegetables served with our Banana leaf Rice. MMMmmmmm nmmmm mmmmmm….

Hubby asked me if i wanted anything else and i told him Chicken would be nice. He brought this back. OMG, i tastes so good with the Chilli Boh, Ginger, Cinnamon and God knows what else they put into it. Hubby had the curry egg. I tried the curry and it tastes a bit bland to me. Overall, we enjoyed our Banana Leaf Rice lunch. No idea what to eat for lunch? Have Banana Leaf Rice tomorrow, ok

It’s really not easy to get Malcolm to eat. He’s a picky eater. My MIL often tells me to “teach him to eat” this and that. But hey, how can you force-feed a toddler, right. Even adults wont eat foods that they dont like. I’m sure you do have plenty of food that you dont enjoy eating too, right.
Malcolm doesnt really rice much. But i found that he quite like potatoes. MIL cooked this Potatoes With Minced Pork especially for him the other day. My boy happily ate everything up. It’s a good substitute for rice as potatoes is a great source of carbohydrates. He sure needs plenty of that to keep his energy up.
