It rained just before it’s time to send my kids to school. My MIL bought siew yook (Roasted Pork ) this morning and i also saw a big cabbage and a few tomatoes inside the fridge earlier on when i went to get eggs to make scrambled eggs for my kids’ breakfast. Gave me an idea to make Roasted Pork and Cabbage Stew for lunch.
I have no idea what’s the weight of the siew yook, but i just cut it up into small bite-size pieces. Also cut up the cabbage, three juicy tomatoes and three big onions. Chopped up some ginger and garlic and fried them with some oil right inside the claypot. Placed everything into it and added a bowl of water, salt, pepper and some soya sauce before i covered it up. Bring to boil on high, then leave to simmer for half an hour or so on medium heat. Gaotim.
This Roasted Pork with Cabbage Stew is great on its own or with plain rice. If you like it tangy, add some Apple Cider Vinegar to it when you eat it. Me, i dribbled lots of Organic Sesame Oil on it and also added some Kikkoman Sauce and yumm yummm mummm mmm mmmmmumm…iLikey!!!! So, what did you have for lunch today?
