Mah Chee Mooncakes

This is the first time i’ve seen this Mah Chee Mooncakes. You know what Mah Chee is? It’s glutinous rice balls with ground peanuts mixed with sugar as fillings. I’ve not had Mah Chee for a long long time. I’ll go buy some for my next post, lol. Right now, let’s concentrate on this pack of Mah Chee Mooncakes first, ya.

Mah Chee Mooncake - cut opened

A very good friend of mine brought it over last weekend. It’s very small in size, like a golf ball. The outer part is pale off-white go color with some sesame seeds on it. It’s quite flaky too. The Mah Chee Mooncake’s filling is made of lotus paste. In place of the yolk, the Taiwanese lady who made this used Mah Chee instead. Hence it’s name.

The one my MIL ate has a dark filling. I think it’s either red bean, or tau sar. My friend told me there are many varieties too. There’s a number on the packaging. If you are interested in contacting the Taiwanese lady who made this, you can get her at +605-2555889. They make unique Mid-Autumn Festival gifts for friends and relatives. Economical too at around Rm9 for a box. Dont forget to buy me some too, hoh.

Jelly Mooncakes

Mooncake Festival is just sound the corner. Bought your mooncakes yet? See how colorful these Jelly Mooncakes are. My MIL bought them from the market. It costs only a few bucks for six. My kids took one look and wanted to eat them all almost immediately. I was so happy watching them eat that by the time i wanted to try, they are all gone, lol! Lucky for me i took this pic earlier.

Jelly Mooncakes - cut opened

Hubby told me they’re not too sweet. I may ask my MIL to buy me another batch on her next trip to the market. I believe my movie addicts would love to bite into these when they watch drama series streaming online here, right. Dont forget to check your email, ya.

Today is a special day. It’s my friend, Patricia’s birthday. She happens to be the very first non-neighbor friend that i got to know. We’ve known each other since the age of 6. That’s more than 30 years of friendship. Pat is a special friend to me as i’ve got both her hubby’s and her signature on my marriage certificate.

Koh Samui Restaurant, Ipoh

To celebrate Pat’s birthday, a group of us, Irene, Jasmine, Switz Keng, Prem, Hubby & I, went for lunch at Koh Samui. It’s a Thai Restaurant located along Cowan Street, Ipoh. I dont know what the street name has been changed to. I’ll update this later, ya.

It’s Stew For Dinner Tonight

MIL made this pot of stew for dinner tonight. It has pig trotter, mushrooms and taupok in it as the main ingredients. The gravy is made up of minced garlic, onions and garlic. It’s delicious and i had two bowls of rice with the gravy. I’m not too fond of the meat. So, ate mostly the taupok and mushrooms. Same goes for my kids. We also had stir-fry bok choi to go with the stew.

I’ve written many posts about the various types of stews my MIL cooks. It’s one of the easiest food to cook at home. Especially for those who dont have much time on hand to cook. Talking of stews, are you watching The Stew Of Life. I’m already watching it. Well, you’re not too late. Just started this week. If you are so free, then enter to continue below.
