Thean Chun Coffeeshop – Ipoh Oldtown

An Ipoh Food Blog is never complete without at least one post of Thean Chun Coffeeshop, lol. If you havent been to this coffeeshop for Kai Si Hor Fun, then consider yourself never been here before. It’s just right next to Kong Heng Coffeeshop. See the shop on its right? It’s closed. For your convenience, Thean Chun is closed on Thursdays, and Kong Heng is closed on Wednesdays.

I think i’ve said this a zillion times. I dont like coming here during lunch hours nor weekends. The narrow streets are all jammed up and it’s really difficult to get a parking. We only eat here if we happen to find one during our banking. Forget about trying to park right in front of the shop. It’s better to park elsewhere and walk here.

This is THE coffeeshop to go to if you want to have a taste of the best Kai Si Hor Fun in the whole of Malaysia. Nope, i’m not the one who gave them the title. They have it all plastered all over the stall, lol!!!!

And this is how the best Kai Si Hor Fun in Ipoh looks like. It tastes best before lunch hours, especially in the morning. After that, the soup will be a tad too sweet and “thick”. Overall, it’s not too bad. (I HATE THE CHIVES!!!!)

A glimpse of the toilet. My “Toilet Inspector” inspects every single toilet in town, lol. This is from restaurants, to coffeeshops to petrol stations to God knows what’s next. It’s hubby’s duty to take them to the toilet. Boys mah….. Papa take :p

Thean Chun is also the only place in town where you can get Non-Halal satay. The fler will pace it on your table, so fast fast reject if you dont want it. Oh, dont worry. He’ll only charge you what you eats, k. I dont eat it cos i dont really fancy it.

The Chee Cheong Fun here is not too bad. We usually order a plate for the kids just in case they dont want the kai Si Hor Fun. They prefer something they are familiar with. MIL buys them Chee Cheong Fun all the time. As long as they eat, it’s less headache for both hubby and i. Do stop by Then Chun Coffeeshop for a bowl of Kai Si Hor Fun if you happen to stop by Ipoh, k.
