Tong Sui Kai At Church Street, Ipoh

Tong Sui Kai opposite Sam Tet School Ipoh

Dear all, my kid’s school is just right across the street where there are lots of stalls selling yummy hawker food. It’s the famous Ipoh Tong Sui Kai at Church Street. So, if i were to go there and wait for him early, i may end up tucking into those neverending chee cheong fun, ngau lam meen, tong sui, wantan meen, curry meen etc. Abuthen, i have exceptionally good self control and will not eat unless i’m about to die of starvation :p. I ate quite a lot on the first week there. It’s only the second week into my new routine and i sure wont want to end up looking like 85% of the silais there.

Yesterday, i was there early and managed to get a parking space near the front. A lot of parents sit at the stalls whilst waiting for their kids. After hanging around the place for a week, i’ve met quite a few familiar faces and we sit and chat together. Great way to kill time if you have nothing else to do. Aiya, almost all silais also free by then lah. I’m still trying to figure out when’s the best time to start my journey to the school. I can tell you, the narrow street jams up pretty fast even you are late by a mere five minutes.

I noticed that the silais there all have one common topic of interest. And that is how to lose weight fast. I was there waiting and chatting with them for about an hour, and the whole conversation was about laxatives, diet pills, slimming teas and such. Their weightloss methods doesnt involve regular exercise, moderate food intake nor a good dieting plan. The funny thing is, as they talked, they were stuffing their faces non-stop with those fattening foods. OMG…. how to lose weight fast lidat larrrr.

Weightloss and weight control isnt about losing all the fat overnight. You did not gain it all in one day. So how do you expect to lose it all just by drinking those slimming teas and popping diet or weightloss pills lehh, haimai. It’s all about moderate food intake coupled with a regular exercise program. Ok, most of you will argue that you dont have the time to exercise. Well, neither do i. I choose what i put into my system carefully and avoid foods that are fattening and artery clogging.

Lowering the Carbs and Protein, and adding more fibre to my diet seems to help. Moreover, with lots fibre-rich foods, you lower your risk of getting constipation too. I still eat rice lah of course, but i choose mixed grains over fattening plain white rice. Makes a lot of difference. As for meat, i take lots of fish as my family is in the seafood business (dun jeles larrr). I leave the heavy meat eating part when dining out with friends. Think curry mutton, lemon chicken, steak, etc. I have to enjoy myself once in a while, ok.

So, if you happen to be a parent with kids going to Sam Tet school for afternoon session, chances are i may be the silai you chatted with before. Damn, with all the pics here, they just make me wanna go eat another bowl of Ngau Lam Meen afterwards, lol. I have lots more in my phone, but i’ll leave them for another post on another day. Drool over these for the time being. So, who wanna join me there later?
