Ipoh Breakfast Treats – Chun Chun Kai Si Hor Fun

Chun Chun Kai Si Hor Fun

I’ve been up since 6 this morning. After updating my blog, i woke hubby up as i wanted to have Kai Si Hor Fun at Chun Chun. Well, it’s actually Restoran Jen Jen. If you hop over to one of my older post, you can see what the signboard outside the coffeeshop looks like.

Chun Chun Kai Si Hor Fun

We arrived shortly after 8am. The shop was half full then. Right after we placed our order and sat down, people started to flock into the shop. Thank God we were early enough. If not, can forget about having breakfast here unless you have time to kill and very patient.

Chun Chun Kai Si Hor Fun

The soup base here is very sweet. The hor fun, of course, fine and smooth. I requested for skinned drumstick with prawns and chicken liver.

Chun Chun Kai Si Hor Fun

And if you happen to be very hungry now, nah….. have a bite. Open your mouth….. aaaaaahhhhhh………..

Chun Chun Kai Si Hor Fun

It’s so good that i even tapau-ed two packets back for my kids. If they cant finish it, i’ll be very willing to help them out, lol. Oh man, there goes my waistline……..

Cookie Cutter On Egg Toast

I keep telling myself if i buy recipe books and yet, never put them to good use, then it’s good money wasted. That’s why, i always make it a point to make use of it at least once before it goes and live on my bookshelf forever, lol. I do have quite a lot of recipe books. And yes, they’ve all been used at least once by yours truly before, k.

This morning, i woke up quite early to work on my blogs. Gordon woke up shortly after and asked for a cheese sandwich. The box of Cookie Baking Kit i bought recently is still lying on my desk. And so, i told myself to take it to the kitchen and come up with something for him really quick. Or else, he’ll go wake up Monster Malcolm.

Of course i wont be baking cookies now as i dont even have the basic ingredients needed for that. Well, at least i can still use them on Egg Toast. The loaf of bread is one day past it’s expiry date and just right for making Egg Toast, one of Gordon’s favorite breakfast. Aiya…. whatever has egg in it, he’ll like, period. Here are just some of the pics i took as i played with my new baking toys.

Gingerbreadman and Fish Cookie Cutter on Bread

This is the Gingerbreadman and Fish Cookie Cutter. The Gingerbreadman Cookie Cutter is Gordon’s favorite, and also the thing that made me buy it in the first place, lol. You can buy Gingerbreadman Cookie Cutters online here.

Bird and Star Cookie Cutter on Bread

Gordon told me the Bird Cookie Cutter is a dog!!!! Does it look anything like a dog to you????? And the Star shaped one is self-explanatory.

Heart and Round Cookie Cutter on Bread

And here’s the Heart and Round Cookie Cutter. They fit perfectly on one slice of bread….. phew.

Cookie Cutter Bread and Egg

Here’s what i ended up with after playing in the kitchen for 15 minutes. I used the remainder of the egg to make Egg Sheet. Can you tell which of these are made with Egg Sheet.

Gordon eating Egg Toast

And here’s a happy Gordon chomping down on the Cookie Cutter Egg Toast as he plays with the PSP. Today must be his lucky day :p

Simple Egg Toast For Kids Breakfast

We’re all up early today. It rained the whole night and it’s cold and wet outside. I saw a loaf of bread on the kitchen table and remembered my kids havent had egg toast for quite some time. Egg Toast is one of the easiet breakfast to make for kids.

Ingredients For Egg Toast

I took two eggs from the fridge and added some sugar to it. Trimmed the sides from three slices of bread and cut them each into four smaller pieces. Twelve pieces of egg toast is more than enough to keep my kids happy and full till noon.

Simple Egg Toast

And here’s the final result. In 15 minutes, i dished out a quick and simple egg toast for my kids breakfast. There’s strawberry milk for them too. Now, i gotta go get myself something to eat :)

Breakfast Of Seafood Noodles & Wan Ton Meen

It’s another one of those rare mornings i went out for breakfast with hubby. I seldom get out of bed before 11am. It’s the school holidays, ok. Let me sleep in as long as i want. Hubby usually buys breakfast back as he likes to have a glass of Teh-Si-Peng (Iced Tea) with his breakfast. I’m such a pampered wife, arent i :p

Seafood noodles soup

The kids were still in bed. i woke up early this morning as i have to plonk some links up to my blogs. I took the opportunity to go out to get some fresh air. Not that we get fresh air these days either with the heat, draught and haze around us. I might as well claim i went out for the morning sun instead.

Bowl of seafood noodles

I wanted to have Jen Jen Kai Si Hor Fun, but the place were closed for three days, damn. We then proceeded to Chuan Fatt for Curry Noodles, also closed, wtf. In the end, we just went to the nearest coffeeshop as we were famished and we dont want to go home to screaming kids. I cannot recall the name but it’s the one along the same road as Moon & Moon Cafe. There was a stall selling seafood noodles and i chose to have that as my first meal of the day.

Seafood noodles

The Seafood Noodle i had just now was not too bad. It has a generous amount of noodles. As for the Sek Pan (Garoupa) fish, it was coated with ginger. Guess it’s supposed to act as a tenderizer and to get rid of the fishy smell/taste at the same time. Garopa fish fillet can be tough at times. The soup also ok alh. Just dont compare this Seafood Noodle to Fai Kee Restaurant at Jalan Seenivasagam, Greenhill, ok. That’s my favorite place as fas as Ipoh Seafood Noodles are concerned. At least, with a full stomach, my morning wasnt that screwed up after all.

Wan Ton Meen

Hubby wanted to play safe and ordered the usual Wan Ton Meen. Yeah, you can never go wrong with Wan Tan Meen. Especially when you happen to be eating at an never-been-to-before coffeeshop. Same goes for Chee Cheong Fun, lol. He claims it’s good and the noodles are springy and have bite to it. We decided to tapau a packet back for the kids.

Wan Ton

Here’s the bowl of Wan Tan that came with the Noodles. As for drinks, we both had Teh-Si-Peng, so-so jek. So, what did you have for breakfast this morning?
