Cooked this vegetarian dish with the packet of Xi Luo Dou Bao my friend gave me. I just used whatever i could dig from my fridge. In a claypot (with enough water to cover all the ingredients), i placed a piece of the Dou Bao (cut up, i think has about three big pieces in the packet), three potatoes (sliced and rubbed with Himalayan Salt and white pepper powder), 5 cloves of garlic (crushed(, three chinese mushroom (sliced), and some canned peanuts (forgot to take a pic of the can :p) and also a heaped tablespoonful of Taucu. Thick black Sauce is optional. Bring to boil and simmer for about 30 minutes, that’s it.
Turned out fine……. phew *wipes sweat from forehead*

And this is the Xi Luo Dou Bao used.

FIL brought crabs back from the wholesale market this morning. I’ve been living here for more than a decade. Guess this is only the second or third time i’ve seen him bring crabs back. Fish and prawns are the norm. Since he had angioplasty last year, prawns are no where to been seen either, haha. FIL did everything from cleaning to cooking the crabs.

By the time hubby and i entered the kitchen, everything is already cooking in the wok. We only went about adding eggs into the mixture and tasting.

And this is the final result. It’s good. According to FIL, this could easily fetch Rm150 at any seafood restaurant. Arent we just lucky to be in the seafood business

My kids love to eat this Kai Lup Farn a lot. We always take them to the coffeeshop behind Hollywood in Canning Garden just for this. Gordon doesnt like the vegetables and i have to remove every single one of them before that kid will eat it. Malcolm can finish half a plate by himself. I think i should cook this for them at home. Doesnt look difficult at all, right.
And to all my movie addicts, get ready to watch this new drama series, Born Rich. I know i’ll enjoy watching Born Rich as many of my favorite actors and actresses are in it. Follow me on Twitter if you want access to our daily updates. I’ve gone private for the time being. I gotta go prepare dinner for my kids now. Maybe i should start by defrosting the chicken. Hope my very own version of the Kai Lup Farn is successful.

This is for dinner tonight. We’re having Stir-fried Lady Fingers With Garlic, Potatoes With Chicken And Fried Rice. The rice was left-overs from last night. No wastage, so make fried rice with eggs. The Potatoes With Chicken is for Malcolm, who doesnt quite like to eat rice. MIL loves the chicken. Both FIL and i, so-so lah.
I love the Stir-fried Lady Fingers with garlic best. FIL also. The rabbit in me is still around. Just wanna bite into anything that’s green. The slime will aid digestion. Hmmmm…. it’s almost time to go pick the boys up from school. I’ll pack some fried rice for Gordon to eat at his tutor’s. Malcolm can come back to theĀ potatoes.

My mom always tell me that the simplest food cooked with basic ingredients tastes best. And mom is always right. I think from my previous dinner preparation post, you would have already guessed what the dishes will turn out to be.

There’s stir-fried young tapioca leaves with chopped garlic and onions with soy sauce. The pomfret looks and tastes just right. As for the Char Siu, i bought that after sending my kids to school.

A closer look of the fried white pomfret. It’s fleshy and yummy!!!!

Look!!! There’s roe inside too.

The plate of stir-fried young tapioca leaves with garlic, onions and soy sauce. Very very tender and nutritious.

And last, fried rice with garlic, onions and eggs. Not bad, eh.
