Happy Father’s Day 2010

Today is Father’s Day. My dad passed away in year 2008. This is the second year i wont ever get to hug him, kiss him, nor see him. He shall always remain in my memory forever. So, if yours is still around, cherish every single moment you get to spend with him.

The kids woke up much earlier than both hubby and i. Malcolm wanted food but i ignored him and he went back to sleep (lousy mom :p). Gordon asked for Noodles with egg. I asked him for the time and he told me it’s 12.14pm!!!! That’s it. i just had to leave my warm bed, the warm sheets, the inviting pillows and bolsters…..

I told him i’m going to make him a very special Egg Mayo Sandwich instead and his eyes lit up. As long as his food has egg in it, he’ll be grinning away, haha. He gets to take it into the room and wish Papa Happy Father’s Day. Now, what’s so special about this egg mayo sandwich? It’s still egg mayo and bread only, lol. We’ll see….

Place egg mayo at the center of the bread in the shape of a circle….

Use a sharp-ended knife and run it round the glass rim….

And tadaaaa…. you get Round Egg Mayo Sandwich. Haimai hou cute lehhhh…..

There is a lot of leftover bread when you make these round egg mayo sandwich. Dont throw them away. Use the leftovers to make bread pudding or freeze them for breadcrumbs. The kids just wanted to eat them immediately. And yes, Papa was so impressed when Gordon handed him the plate and wished him Happy Father’s Day. He had no idea how i made them round either, lol.

Well, the steps are shown in pictures above. It’s so easy that your 4 year old can help make them. You can use anything other than egg mayo as filling. Next time, i’ll go through my kid’s toybox and see if i can find something that can be used to get an interesting shape. Just make sure the edges are wide so that you can press the sides together. If your cookie cutters have a blunt edge, try it.

This is the Father’s Day card that Malcolm brought back from school. Together with the Round Egg Mayo Sandwiches, it makes a wonderful brunch for the four of us. We’ll be taking the kids for a haircut after this as today also marks the end of the school holidays. It’s back to the daily grind starting tomorrow. Enjoy today to the max ya.

Super Silai Sunday

Sundays are for testing my super silai skills. Aiya, not that i have lots to test also lar, ok. I bought these super cute Japanese Egg Molds from the 100 Yen shop across the road from Parkson.They dont cost much, but i forgot how much i paid. Something like Rm5 for 2 lidat gua.

These super cute Japanese Egg Molds are sold in packs of two. I bought two packs as there are only four designs for sale. The car shaped Egg Mold is a must for my car-car crazy Malcolm. Gordon’s not particular as long as he gets his share.

Here’s how the Japanese Egg Molds look like when opened. I only had three large eggs in the fridge that day. So, i boiled them all on the stove and let the kids choose which egg mold they want to use.

You are supposed to use HARD BOILED EGGS with these egg molds only. And use them the moment you take them out of the pot when they are still soft. Place them into each mold and close the lid slowly. I was told they fit better if you place the eggs upright. If you find it hard to close the lid all the way down, slide the blunt side of a butter knife around the egg mold to guide the eggs into the holes as you close the lids.

Once you are done closing the lids, dunk the egg molds into cold water.

Add ice to it to speed up the hardening and shaping process.

Your shaped hard boiled eggs should be ready in about 10 to 5 minutes. Tada…………

I used a kitchen scissors to trim away the sides of the eggs and let the kids admire them for a while before…….

One Egg Frying Pan


It rained just now and i fell asleep. I was woken up by something freaking cold on my face. My kid placed an egg he took from the fridge on my face! He told me he’s hungry, lol! I forgot both of them only ate Wonton Meen for brunch. Ok, me lousy Mom.

And so, i dragged myself to the kitchen, took the one egg frying pan down from the wall and fried the egg for him. He’s eating it with rice and fried pomfret. My one egg frying pan cute, right. Very convenient too.

Dont have one? Check out the ones here and buy one back. Then you dont have to wash a big pan each time you fry one egg, lol!

Cookie Cutter On Egg Toast

I keep telling myself if i buy recipe books and yet, never put them to good use, then it’s good money wasted. That’s why, i always make it a point to make use of it at least once before it goes and live on my bookshelf forever, lol. I do have quite a lot of recipe books. And yes, they’ve all been used at least once by yours truly before, k.

This morning, i woke up quite early to work on my blogs. Gordon woke up shortly after and asked for a cheese sandwich. The box of Cookie Baking Kit i bought recently is still lying on my desk. And so, i told myself to take it to the kitchen and come up with something for him really quick. Or else, he’ll go wake up Monster Malcolm.

Of course i wont be baking cookies now as i dont even have the basic ingredients needed for that. Well, at least i can still use them on Egg Toast. The loaf of bread is one day past it’s expiry date and just right for making Egg Toast, one of Gordon’s favorite breakfast. Aiya…. whatever has egg in it, he’ll like, period. Here are just some of the pics i took as i played with my new baking toys.

Stir-fried Flat Beans With Prawns

MIL cooked stir-fried flat beans with prawns for dinner tonight. Other than this, there’s omelette and also fishballs for my kids. Simple dishes that everyone in the family likes. I gave Malcolm a few fishballs just now and he asked for more; PASS. Gordon will not say no to the omelet either; PASS. Me, as long as i dont have to cook; ALL PASS!!!! LOLZ!!!!
