Fruits Dessert

This was what my friend, Pat, ordered when she came over to join me at the Tong Sui stalls across the road from my kid’s school. It’s a huge bowl of mixed fruits with peanuts and ice-cream. I helped her eat some. Oh, that’s after i’ve had a bowl of Ngau Lam Meen and Ching Pou Leong, lol. Dunno whom to blame now for all the extra pounds at all the wrong places.

Now, stop staring at the delicious fruits dessert. Let’s watch The Season Of Fate instead. This is a new drama series. Hope you all enjoy watching The Season Of Fate together with me, ya. Follow me on Twitter for updates and access. Have fun!!

Porridge With Salted Chicken And Dried Scallops

Porridge cooked with Yim Kook Kai and Dried Scallops

This is no ordinary porridge. It’s made with Ipoh’s famous Salted Chicken, or Yim Kook Kai in Cantonese. I bought Aun Kheng Lim’s Yim Kook Kai for dinner yesterday. My dear friend, Pat, told me to save the bones as it makes great chicken stock and also porridge. I decided to make porridge with it first.

You cant see much chicken bits in this pics as i walloped them all yesterday, lol. Whatever’s left is also mixed well as the porridge is being cooked. For added sweetness, i also added a few dried scallops to it. You can see the brown bits in this pic. The aroma of “Tong Kwai” is still strong though there’s only a few bits in the porridge. The taste? HEAVENLY!!!!!!!!

Aun Kheng Lim Yim Kook Kai

This is the box of Aun Kheng Lim’s Salted Chicken. As the shop is situated along a busy road, forget about parking your car. Actually, you dont need to as the workers there are always standing outside the shop to hand you your Salted Chicken. Just wind down your window and show them your fingers, lol.

Those of you planning for your baby’s fullmoon, do note that you can get them to prepare fullmoon packs for you to distribute to friends and family members. I did that on Malcolm’s fullmoon. The shop’s address is No 24, Jalan Theatre, 30300 Ipoh, Perak. Tel/fax: 605-2542998.

Aun Kheng Lim Yim Kook Kai

Aun Kheng Lim’s Yim Kook Kai comes wrapped in baking paper. It’s stated on the box that it’s best you steam it for 5 minutes before you unwrap it. Me, i heck care. Who has the patience to wait, horrr. Eat lah. I love it best with Ipoh’s Lan Fah Soy Sauce. Since i dont have any at home, i used Kikkoman instead. MMmMMmM mm MmMmM m mmMMm mM HAH!!!! Caught you salivating. Faster go buy some.

Cookie Cutter On Egg Toast

I keep telling myself if i buy recipe books and yet, never put them to good use, then it’s good money wasted. That’s why, i always make it a point to make use of it at least once before it goes and live on my bookshelf forever, lol. I do have quite a lot of recipe books. And yes, they’ve all been used at least once by yours truly before, k.

This morning, i woke up quite early to work on my blogs. Gordon woke up shortly after and asked for a cheese sandwich. The box of Cookie Baking Kit i bought recently is still lying on my desk. And so, i told myself to take it to the kitchen and come up with something for him really quick. Or else, he’ll go wake up Monster Malcolm.

Of course i wont be baking cookies now as i dont even have the basic ingredients needed for that. Well, at least i can still use them on Egg Toast. The loaf of bread is one day past it’s expiry date and just right for making Egg Toast, one of Gordon’s favorite breakfast. Aiya…. whatever has egg in it, he’ll like, period. Here are just some of the pics i took as i played with my new baking toys.

Gingerbreadman and Fish Cookie Cutter on Bread

This is the Gingerbreadman and Fish Cookie Cutter. The Gingerbreadman Cookie Cutter is Gordon’s favorite, and also the thing that made me buy it in the first place, lol. You can buy Gingerbreadman Cookie Cutters online here.

Bird and Star Cookie Cutter on Bread

Gordon told me the Bird Cookie Cutter is a dog!!!! Does it look anything like a dog to you????? And the Star shaped one is self-explanatory.

Cookie Cutter Bread and Egg

Here’s what i ended up with after playing in the kitchen for 15 minutes. I used the remainder of the egg to make Egg Sheet. Can you tell which of these are made with Egg Sheet.

Gordon eating Egg Toast

And here’s a happy Gordon chomping down on the Cookie Cutter Egg Toast as he plays with the PSP. Today must be his lucky day :p

Chicken Nuggets Recipe

These Chicken Nuggets are my kids’ favorite snack. I usually order this for them when we dine at Parkson’s Kopitiam Junction. Gordon eats his with the mayonaise. Malcolm likes it plain.

Chicken Nuggets are one of the easiest food to prepare for kids. I used to make them when Gordon was just a toddler. It’s one of the easiest way to get him to eat some vegetables as i mix them into the meat before i fry it. Here’s my own version of Chicken Nuggets Recipe:

Ingredients:

500g minced chicken
2 garlic cloves (crushed)
1/4 cup fresh breadcrumbs
2 tbsp chopped basil
1/4 tsp cayenne pepper
Olive oil for cooking

Method:

1) Combine chicken, garlic, breadcrumbs, basil and cayenne pepper in a large bowl and season. You can add any kind of chopped vegetables to it if you like. My favorite being celery and carrots.

2) Using damp hands, roll tablespoons of the mixture into balls and place on a baking tray lined with baking paper. Flatten slightly with a fork.

3) Heat the olive oil in a frying pan and fry in batches over medium heat. Turn them every now and then until golden.

4) Set aside to cool and they are ready to be eaten.
