Ever tried to catch a rat with a homemade rat trap before? I have, not once, but many times with many different methods. I’ve used rat cages, rat baits, rat glue traps, and even rat poison before. But never once occured to me that people use Buah Tikus to catch rats at home! I also noticed that the house owner has a rat cage in this pic. She obviously failed in her attempt to catch a rat with it, lol.
According to her, Buah Tikus is poisonous. She placed it at the kitchen door entrance to attract the rats to it. If you have small children at home, then this homemade rat trap is not the one for you. My friend told me the rats are supposed to bite the fruit and then die from poisoning. I saw some bite marks on the fruits though. Wonder if the rats really died or not??
Anyway, rats are damn smart these days. You can never catch the same rat twice with the same trap a second time. They already know how to avoid the trap. Moreover, the rest of the pack also seems to know what you’re up to. You gotta be creative and improvise. If all fail, you can always check out Best Mouse & Rat Traps for a solution. Plenty of mouse and rat traps there for you to catch your next pest.

These few days, my neighbor saw rats scurrying around her kitchen. Dont be alarmed. This is very common where we live. There is nothing much that we can do to prevent rats from entering the house since there are so many places that they can do so from. The only reason they are here is to look for food. What i can do to prevent the rats from coming back is to make sure that there are no food inside the kitchen for them.
My MIL bought some containers to keep all her onions and garlic. She used to keep all her potatoes on a rack until the rats ate some of it. No, rats dont like potatoes, but they will bite into anything to see if it’s edible or not. Onions, garlic and ginger are not spared, believe you me. Our neighbor made a homemade glue rat trap once and says it’s very effective and never fails to catch all the rats in her house.
Geee… i’m familiar with homemade glue rat traps. So, how to get rid of rats in the kitchen? If hubby sees rats around the house, he will buy rat glue from the hardware shop, paste them onto boards and place them around the kitchen. Sometimes, we can catch up to three rats on a single board. I hate the smell of those homemade glue rat traps. They stink, ewwwww. But those glue rat traps work like a charm.
We no longer make our own rat glue traps nowadays. We buy glue rat traps to catch rats around the house. There are quite a few brands available and take this Catchmaster glue rat trap for example. It can even catch snakes!!! If you have rats around the house and you want to catch them, you go give the Catchmaster glue rat trap a try. Dont let those rats run about your kitchen destroying all your food. Good luck.
