Pomfret Fish From Pulau Pangkor

My FIL knows Malcolm loves fish and brought this Pomfret back from the wholesale market for him. Our family’s in the Seafood Wholesale business and we eat seafood all year round. The prawns i use to cook Maggi Mee with is as big as your whole palm, lol.

This Pomfret weighs roughly 700gm. Enough for three adults and two kids for dinner. There are two types of Pomfret. This is the costlier white variety, the kind usually sold at Hotels and Chinese Restaurants. During Chinese New year, each of these can call up to Rm100+.We dont eat this during CNY. Better to sell them for profit, LOL!!!!

And then, there’s the Black variety. It’s cheaper and can be bought easily. To me, the White Pomfret tastes better and has a finer texture compared to the Black Pomfret. We’re not going to steam this today as steamed fish needs to be prepared just before it’s served . We’ll be frying it instead. Ya, i know, what a waste right. Nevermind, we have plenty…..

It’s Fried Fish And Omelette For Tonight’s Dinner

It really didnt take MIL long to cook two simple yet yummy dishes for dinner. Say, half and hour or so. Me…. maybe more, lolol.

Fried fish

We’re having fried fish tonight. This morning, we have steamed fish for brunch. We have fish everyday. Both my kids dont really fancy fish. I need to camouflage it properly before they’ll eat it. This is SKILL, LOLZ!!!!

Long beans omelette with minced pork

And we are also getting a super yummy long beans omelette with minced pork and lots of chopped onions and garlic inside. The kids are going to love it with their favorite Japanese mayo. This is also one way to get my kids to eat their vegetables 85% of the time. So, what are you having for dinner tonight?

Dinner Is Served

Ok, this is tonight’s dinner. Really nothing fancy. Only fried fish and stir-fried baby bokchoi with garlic. Oh, there’s tomato, potato, onions and carrot soup in the pot. Forgot to snap a pic of it to place with the dishes, lol. But that’s not important, right. I’d better hurry up and feed my kids first. I wanna watch The Gem Of Life Ep 22 streaming later on.

We’re only a quarter into The Gem Of Life so far. 60 episodes to last us right up till February 2009. Good, huh. No need to hunt for new TVB Drama series to watch. What are you watching now? Are you watching The Gem Of Life too? How about When Easterly Showers Fall On The Sunny West? Episode 17 tonight, you know. Alright, you go enjoy your series. I gotta go eat my dinner now :)

Quaker Oats with Marmite – The Ultimate Comfort Food

As all i had was just a bowl of Curry Noodles at Oldtown Kopitiam this evening, i’m famished by now. It’s almost 2am here, k. What do you expect, huh. I’ve had enough of rice and noodles, and i’m sick of eating bread, blekkkk.

Quaker Oats with Marmite

On my way to the kitchen, i noticed i still have a can of unfinished Quaker Oats. And i’m so happy to find that there’s Marmite too. I love Quaker Oats with Marmite. Can never go wrong with this combination.

Quaker Oats with Marmite and Sesame Oil

With just some hot water and a spoonful of Marmite, i get a bowl of healthy and nutritious comfort food for supper. As for the brown liquid on the surface of the Quaker Oats, that’s just a dash of Organic Sesame Oil.

Quaker Oats with Marmite and Fried Fish

I found a piece of Fried Fish inside the rice cooker. My MIL fried two for my FIL, but he only ate one. And so, i added the Fried Fish to my bowl of nutritious Quaker Oats with Marmite. Delicious and satisfying. Isnt this the ultimate comfort food for supper?

Steamed mini pomfret

Dont be jealous of me when i tell you i’m married to a man whose family business involves seafood, seafood, and more seafood. Each day, we are bound to eat fish. Frankly speaking, i dont know their names. My FIL understands fish so well that he knows how best to cook it in order to bring out their flavor. Dont argue with someone who’s been selling fish since 12.

Steamed mini pomfret

Today, he brought some mini pomfrets back. Arent they cute? In my opinion, these mini pomfrets taste much better than those big restaurant ones. The flesh is soft, tender and sweet. Best eaten steamed with a dash of light soya sauce and sesame oil. Fry some ginger slices and sprinkle over the dish together with some chopped spring onions the moment it’s done. Do try making some steamed mini pomfrets if you happen to buy some back.
