Finally, finally, finally!!! Bought a mini rice mould to prepare bentos for my kids. I used to make them with my cookie cutters, and they arent exactly the best tool for moulding rice as the soft grains keep getting stuck in between the grooves of the face plate. So, i end up with a slightly “disfigured” moulded rice whenever i use those. The only bonus to that is i do get Doraemon rice though, which makes the kids laugh as they eat, lol.
As you can see, using a rice mould is very easy. The bottom of the main rice mould body has removable shape plates with a bumpy surface (so that the rice wont stick to it) each to push the rice out when done. The cover to push the rice down also has the same kinda surface as you can see in the pic. Am happy that this mini rice mould can make such cute bite-sized rice, which is what i wanted. Add two black sesame seeds for eyes, and a tiny strip of seaweed for the mouth, i’ll get a happy face for the animal shaped ones. There are of course bigger rice moulds, but i prefer them smaller. I might buy the bigger ones next time.
Ahhh…. rice has never tasted better, lol. Great for those kids-dowan-rice-but-i-only-have-rice days!!
